Saffron buns


  • 50g of yeast;
  • 200g of butter;
  • 1/2L milk;
  • 1g of saffron;
  • ½ teaspoon salt;
  • 200g of sugar;
  • 1 egg;
  • 1.5L of flour;
  • Raisins and 1 egg yolk for decoration.

Cooking method:

  1. Add yeast to the warm milk and let it disperse. Then add melted butter, egg, salt and sugar to the milk. Add soaked saffron prepared in advance!
  2. Pour hot milk (3-4 teaspoons) to 1g of saffron at least one hour before making the dough. Better if soaked a day before.
  3. Once all of the ingredients are in the bowl, gradually add 1.5L of flour and knead the dough.
  4. Let the dough to stand for 40-50 minutes.
  5. Cut the dough into pretzels. Let them almost double in size, decorate with raisins, and brush with beaten yolk with milk.
  6. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes at 200ºC.
